Up to 40 per cent of the more than half a million aid workers worldwide are women. People with mental health conditions face a double challenge. On the one hand, they struggle with their illness, and on the other, they face stereotypes and discrimination in society. All this makes their recovery and reintegration much more difficult. Caritas Czech Republic is raising awareness in society about the need to reduce stigma and negative labelling of people with mental health problems.

A year of our help to Ukraine: How does Caritas Czech Republic support people affected by Russian aggression?

On the 24th of February, we will mark the sad anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ever since then, the war has displaced more than 15 million people from their homes. Caritas Czech Republic has been helping from the very beginning.  Initially, we focused on the most urgent needs, such as delivering humanitarian aid and helping refugees. Thanks to the generosity of our donors who have contributed to the Caritas for Ukraine collection, we can help war-affected people.

Caritas for Turkey and Syria: We have launched appeal to help people affected by catastrophic earthquake

A catastrophic earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck south-eastern Turkey and Syria in the early hours of Monday 6th February. Caritas Czech Republic immediately launched an appeal to help the affected people. Thousands of people have already lost their lives and thousands are injured. Just before noon, another 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck south-eastern Turkey. People on the ground need immediate humanitarian aid. Caritas partners are already helping on the ground.

Caritas Czech Republic and M.A.D.E. theatre organise theatre tour for social inclusion of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova’s communities

For almost a year, we have been providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees in Moldova. Due to the protracted war, the refugees need not only to have their basic needs met, but also to be socially integrated into local communities. In order to support their integration in Moldova and to strengthen social cohesion with local communities, Caritas Czech Republic, in cooperation with the M.A.D.E. theatre, will organise a national theatre tour in 7 cities of the country.
