A kindergarten in northern Moldova will use rainwater for household needs with the support of Caritas Czech Republic

Caritas Czech Republic has taken a step towards improving the sustainability and efficiency of water resource usage by introducing an innovative initiative to use rainwater as an alternative water source in Moldova. Throughout the year 2024, a rainwater capture, filtration, and storage system for household use will be constructed in the Albinuța kindergarten in the village of Bilicenii Vechi, Sîngerei district, with the involvement of Czech and national experts.

In the quiet and small Moldovan village of Chirsova, Sofia Dolapci and her three children have found their new home. Sofia’s dream of having her own home and happy family life in Mikolayiv was destroyed by war. Two years later, Sofia remains hesitant to return to Ukraine, fearful of the impact on her children's well-being. She hopes that peace will prevail and her family will be able to move into their new home and rebuild their lives in Ukraine.

In modern society, where age differences can often lead to isolation and a lack of understanding between generations, inter-generational groups become increasingly relevant and necessary. To promote dialogue between generations and support elderly people with diverse needs in developing their skills and improving their quality of life, Caritas Czech Republic, in cooperation with AO Homecare, is developing a new service – Inter-generational Clubs within 5 health and social centres in Moldova.

It has been two years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and escalation of the war.  During this time, the situation remains challenging both on the battlefield and in the living conditions of Ukrainians. Russian missiles and drones continue to target various settlements in Ukraine, while Ukrainians persist in fighting for their land or seeking refuge from the war. Caritas Czech Republic has been assisting affected Ukrainians since the beginning of the conflict, providing support both within Ukraine and abroad.
