7 biggest achievements of Caritas Czech Republic in 2024

The year 2024 brought many challenges to the world, but it also showed the power of solidarity and commitment to help where it is needed most. We helped civilians affected by the war in Gaza, supported farmers in Zambia battling the effects of climate change and played our part in rebuilding livelihoods in war-torn Ukraine. This is just a fraction of our work. Let's recall the key moments and achievements of Caritas Czech Republic over the past year.

Best of 2024 in Caritas Czech Republic in Moldova

In 2024, we strengthened Moldova’s social services through a series of impactful initiatives aimed at creating safer, more supportive communities. Our anti-bullying programme in schools across the country taught students empathy and respect through engaging workshops, while new sheltered homes in Glodeni and Soroca provided a safe space for independent living and mental health support. To ensure lasting impact, we also completed a key supervision training programme for caregivers.

Two schools in Moldova will have better sanitation and hygiene facilities thanks to Caritas Czech Republic

Poor sanitation, water scarcity, low water quality, and inadequate hygiene practices can have severe consequences for young children. These issues also negatively affect the health of school-aged children, who spend long hours in school. With financial support from the European Union, Caritas Czech Republic has launched a new initiative in Moldovan schools to improve water and sanitation facilities for students and school staff, while also raising awareness about proper hygiene practices.
